The Sandhills are a small band of friends making music that veers between alt-folk, alt-country and indie-pop. After releasing two EPs and an LP working alone, singer-songwriter Chris Hann collaborated with Darwin violinist Ania Tait in late 2024, and in March 2025 The Sandhills released the EP Prairies.
Our latest single, Counting Fractures is out now. It's about waking up in a weird headspace and just going with it.
In September we released a folky single, Fire on the Mountain. It's about finding your way back to love, after a quarrel. Or maybe that sheepish look on your face, right before you try to apologise.
Released early in 2025, Prairies has been described as a homage to life on the fringe - to corruption, sacrifice, desire and patience.
We are back in the studio recording our next EP or LP (we never know which), due for release late 2025. Ania Tait is on board again, and so is multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer, music teacher Tim Webb, best known as lead guitarist for Leash and the Dusty Boots, Expensive Elevator Music and The Ovulators.
Our new single, Fire on the Mountain" has received strong support from regional Australian radio via AMRAP.
We are hitting the road in October 2025, on our first ever tour of south west Australia. We'll be joined on the road by Darwin folk/country superstar Alice Cotton. Details in the poster below.
We are humbled (and psyched) by a recent invitation to play the inaugural New Farm, New Country Music Festival (Denmark, WA), in October 2025. Alice Cotton will be joining us for this gig too!
Our brand new range of home made tshirts and tea towels are now on sale. They are a very limited run so get in quick!
